For a World in Need of Change
I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the Worldchanging Book tour in Vancouver on November 5th, 2006. I am new to the website, but it contains a plethora of great writers and material. If you interested on what potential venues of change are out there (and they DO exist) for the world, be sure to check out their site: www.worldchanging.com
The over arching idea that they present at Worldchanging is that there are already solutions present in our world. The resources, ideas and man power are already there, we just have to place it into action. Seminar speaker, Alex Steffen confirmed many of these ideas during his speech to the audience. He gave a brief summary of what is contained in the book; everything ranging from the little things that each person can do in their lives to the more complex practices that can be taken on by today's businesses.
It was a enlightening experience. It is all too easy to look at this world and think it's hopeless, but that's just not the case. As the Worldchanging site demonstrates so beautifully, there are a variety of things that can be done by each person to make for a positive change in our world. Now, the extent to how much each person wants to put into making changes in this world are wide and varying, but both this site and book provide a great way to figure how. You don't need to be a revolutionary, but there is something that you can do and I recommend checking either source out to see how you can contribute.
I would also take a look at my friend Adrian Chong's blog entry on Worldchanging. Good stuff.
